The 2022 USA Lacrosse Honor nominees from the LHSLL and have been accepted. The following are the League recipients from this season.
All America- Matthew Broussard- Goalie- St. Thomas More Broussard capped off his senior campaign with a stellar campaign for the Cougars of St. Thomas More. The only team to play every team in the League, Broussard came up clutch in many huge games. The ultimate leader on and off the field. From Head Coach Byrnes Tatford- “It's difficult to put into words the amount of heart, dedication and passion that Matthew has had for the game of lacrosse and for our team. He is an audacious leader who commands through work ethic and relentless effort. He has been our starting goalie since his freshmen year, when he worked harder than 2 older goalies and earned his starting position. During his freshmen year, he was selected by his seniors at mid-season to serve the team as a captain for the remainder of the year. He has been successful as a goalie with 4 different defensive lineups in front of him (each year we graduated 3-4 Defensemen and an LSM). During his senior year, he had 2 sophomores and 2 freshmen playing alongside him on defense, and was still able to maintain a great 72% save percentage. He's a natural athlete and the best goalie I have seen at the high school level. Most importantly, he's a fine young man who will go on to do great things in life. He was deeply involved with our school's campus ministry program, leading and attending retreats monthly and serving as a reader and minister at weekly mass. He is hands down one of the top 3-4 lacrosse players from Louisiana this season, and I know that would be agreed upon by all of his opposing coaches. He is absolutely deserving of the All-American and All-Academic awards. All America- Hudson Brown- Defense- Catholic High School Brown, a 2021 All America selection, had another standout season, this time helping Catholic High to their first ever LHSLL Championship. From Head Coach George Hopkins- Hudson Brown is the best close defender in the state of Louisiana, and widely considered as such. No one works harder than Hudson, and he is also among the most humble players on our team. Hudson Brown consistently exhibits superior skills and techniques, possesses exceptional game sense, knowledge and decision-making, and embodies exemplary sportsmanship. All Academic- James Basco- Attack- C.E. Byrd High School
All Academic- Matthew Broussard- Goalie- C.E. Byrd High School
